The UP Pep Squad is ready to represent the Philippines in 4 categories in the 17th Cheerleading Asia International Open Championship in Tokyo this coming weekend.
This is a common scene in a neighborhood involved in Tupig business near our home in Laoac, Pangasinan when the dusk falls. These are coconut shells burning for Charcoal Production.
Tupig is a a native delicacy made with glutinous rice and grated coconuts wrapped in wilted banana leaves and cooked over live coals.

The only thing that came from dad. Restless after an important overnight activity with my film org, the UP Cineastes’ Studio, I went straight to Tao-Pilipinas’ Hands-on Training on House Retrofitting for Disaster Risk Reduction in Suburban, Montalban. I readily took on the job of digging the earth, cutting plywoods and metal bars, mixing concrete and filling cracks with them, and many other manly carpentry jobs I remotely imagined myself to be so relished doing. I even played basketball, well sort of, with the more veteran carpenters from Buklod Tao after finishing retrofitting the beneficiary house of our group.
I really surprised myself today. It helped a lot that I was exposed to carpentry my entire childhood (my dad was a great civil engineer until he suffered stroke two decades ago).
7 years ago, this was one of the happiest moments of my life. I think I’ll forever regret quitting. My days are now just failed attempts to approximate that same state… that same drive… that same fire.
How many of us really live for what they love?
If my SmartBro broadband stick is any indication, I have problems letting go of practically anything. If something’s worth saving, I save it. Even if it means actually cracking it open and patching it up like McGyver would for it to work.
All I really need is that green light to know that it still works, that it is still of use to me, that it still has something for me.

Spent a night here in Antipolo City for Tao Pilipinas’ technical training. I haven’t been posting photos for my lens have managed to ruin every shot by putting big black dots on them. But that black dot could easily be edited out of this.
While scanning footage for a project for NCCA, I came across this interview with these two culture masters. I’m not sure what they’re singing, but I’m sure it’s something about nature and history and culture and all things about their ancestry. I can think of a wonderful imagery for an OBB while listening to it.
